I know, I know … I am such a child! I used to be one of those tiny tots who would be positively angelic whenever the idea of receiving stars was mentioned by our teacher. If we received a GOLD star, we would also be allowed to choose a Smartie – oh they were the days! no such outrageous bribery in the shape of sugar and additives is allowed in any self-respecting school nowadays.

A couple of days after publication, my dear friend Lynn Serafinn – a very wise book publisher soul - posted a message on Facebook, congratulating me on hitting the Amazon UK bestseller lists. I remember thinking “What? No way!”… after all, I have worked on enough book launches to know how important – and how difficult – it is to hit the bestseller lists. She sent me over a screenshot of the charts as of that moment …
Well, imagine my surprise later that day when Lynn shared with me another screenshot – showing how I was much higher up in the bestseller charts – I was so excited, I could barely breathe!
The good vibes just kept on rolling … for then I saw a few days later that I had a FIVE STAR review! Oh my! FIVE gold stars *yeahhh* This was just such a precious gift and I truly hope that others who have read Callie’s Story will also consider sharing with me their thoughts – either via this blog, via my new Facebook Authors page : www.facebook.com/calliecarling or (preferably) on the Amazon sites, either UK or US.
This was never, ever a money-making exercise : this was purely a way to share a message – one hopefully of hope! – and raise a little bit of money for a charity very dear to my heart. So to know that I have touched people so deeply is truly a wonderful and very precious gift that I am so blessed to receive.
So yes : 5 stars DO matter. They matter in this instance because I know that I have touched people, perhaps even made their own journey a little bit easier to bear.
Last but not least, I would love to share with you an excerpt from a friend’s email. This particular friend has been witness to some very bumpy rides of mine over the past few years and has been adamant that I need to write a book (a full-size book):
